3 Reasons Dog Owners in Delaware Should Secure a Crate in Their Car

Crate training is one of the most useful tools in a pet owner's tool belt, and nowhere is that more clear than in the car. Many owners prefer to give their dog free rein of the vehicle, but there are so many reasons you and your pup will be better off using a crate.

  1. Crash safety. Without anything securing them to the seat, your beloved pet will go flying in a traffic collision. Crating reduces the chance of severe injury.
  2. Crash avoidance. Your dog suddenly decides to jump into your lap, or discovers deliciously-rotten food in the trash bag you keep in the back seat. Whatever the reason, when you take your eyes off the road to deal with Fido, you are risking an accident.
  3. Keeping cool. We all know never to leave an animal locked in a car on a hot day, but sometimes you can't avoid stopping for a quick errand. With your dog in a crate, you can roll the windows all the way down, and even open the liftgate without worrying about Fido running away.
